Crimson Heart

Bridal Styling
I always love the excitement of styling for weddings. When a friend told me that Monica needed a stylist I was of course all in! Monica knew just what she wanted for her big day. This vintage inspired half-up style was a perfect fit for her strapless gown on a bright southern California December day. This color is not my formulation, although I love it on her. We set her 2nd day hair in 1" hot iron curls and let them cool while she had a mimosa. After brushing the curls and smoothing them with an anti-humectant, I twisted and worked her hair to one side. Three large pin curls sit on top of an elegantly wrapped side pony and a front finger wave completes the look. Believe it or not I actually slipped clip in extensions for this one, they blended perfectly among the curls and waves of this style. You can try a loose or more natural version of this by using smaller curls or less humectant, taking a couple tendrils down here and there or allowing the bangs to fall forward into the face. Lovely!

Delightful Caramel Highlights
For highlights such as these, I love dropping in some orange red pure pigment upon toning. If the hair can be done in a single-process color, even better! You can really bring a unique tonality to each guest so they don't end up with the same highlights as their friends!

Base color is Aveda deep line: 20g8n+16gyg/30vol developer
Highlights are lifted with enlightener and toned with Aveda demi-permanant 40g8.5n+3yo+3or/liquid act.

Today's favorite technique

Blombre; Blonde-Ombre. Subtle Ribbons of angelic blonde lace through a golden blonde base, ends are left to fend for themselves like memories of summer's past.  Effortless grow out, perfect for the working mom or non-salon fiend during winter months!
Base on previously lightened hair: wella koleston perfect 20g6/03+20g7/03+20g10vol+20g6vol developer, combed at ends to break and highlighted with 20g12/1+40g30volume on previously colored base, leaving out lightened ends- in a progressive foil-foiling in some pieces of the base color through the ends.
DELICIOUS COLOR!
